TOPEKA, KS (October 15, 2024) — The YMCA of Topeka is excited to celebrate one of the fastest growing sports by hosting a weekend of the 1st Annual Statewide YMCA Pickleball Tournament this November 16-17. Ys across the state have hosted local tournaments monthly with the winners from each to go on to compete in the state championship tournament to be held in Wichita this December.

The tournament will be held at the YMCA of Topeka located at 3635 SW Chelsea Drive in Topeka. Registration is open now for pickleball players of all ages and skills and is $25 per person for YMCA members or $30 per person for non-members. Those wishing to participate in a second event may register for an additional $5 for members and $10 for non-members. All athletes will receive a YMCA of Topeka pickleball bag with swag and the first 50 people registered will also receive a copy of the book “The Complete Book of Pickleball: The Ultimate Training Guide for Passionate Players of All Levels” written by Kansas authors Kurt, Mike and Brett Brungardt of Garden City, KS.

The winners of each event will receive free entry into the championship tournament in Wichita.

“We are excited that YMCAs across Kansas are able to host a sport like pickleball that is inclusive, embraces individuals of all ages, skill levels and abilities and brings people of all different types together” says Alexis Hill, interim CEO of the YMCA of Topeka.

Anyone interested in learning more about the tournament or wanting to register for the tournament can do so on the YMCA of Topeka website at www.ymcatopeka.org/pickleball.
