Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization, committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Member Services Supervisor, the Member Service Associate will deliver excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. As well as responds to members and guests needs, promotes and sells memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

Essential Functions

  1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the branch and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  2. Interviews and/or tours prospective members; sells memberships.
  3. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
  4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  5. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  6. May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
  7. Assume all other responsibilities as deemed necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years.
  • Must be able to work in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Ability to relate to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

  1. Certifications required within 90 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.

  5. Basic knowledge of computers.

The YMCA of Topeka is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to give the lifesaving skills of swim lessons to children on Monday and Wednesday evenings or Saturdays mornings. If you are interested, you can work both sessions, with opportunities for additional private lessons. Experience preferred but training is provided if needed! CPR certification required within 60 days of hire.
