Essential Functions

  1. Complete all training required by KDHE within the first 6 months of holding the position.
  2. Establish positive relationships with parents, children, school personnel and other staff members.  Be a positive role model.
  3. Assist the Site Director in implementing quality program curriculum and lesson plans of the daily program, including arts and crafts, active games, and snack.
  4. Assist with supervision of children.  Maintain that children are never left alone.  Make sure all children are watched at all times.
  5. Assist with positive reinforcement and disciplinary needs of children.
  6. Assist win maintain a physically and mentally safe environment for the children.
  7. Actively support and participate in YMCA functions as notified by the Child Care Director.
  8. Attend all required staff meetings and give input on programming issues.
  9. Assist with record-keeping including daily attendance, monthly supply request, DSS paperwork, newsletter information, and lesson plans.  Meet all required deadlines.
  10. Follow and enforce Association and departmental policies.
  11. Substitute in other classrooms as required.
  12. Actively pursue training and learning opportunities and certifications relating to the position.  Maintain current certifications required by the position.
  13. Is committed to maintaining a workplace free from all forms of harassment
  14. Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
