(TOPEKA, KAN.) Today, the YMCA of Topeka announced it will be moving the childcare program currently operating out of the Crossroads facility to a new operation in partnership with Trinity Presbyterian Church at 4746 SW 21ˢᵗ Street. The last day of programming at the current location will be Friday, August 1, with programing resuming at the new location on Monday, August 4. All current participants and staff will be transitioned to the new location.
“It has been our honor and privilege to play a role in the care of children from throughout the Topeka community, supporting their growth, health, and potential,” said Alexis Hill, executive director and interim CEO, YMCA of Topeka. “After much reflection and consideration, we have made the decision to move our childcare programming to a new facility that will not only help alleviate current financial hardships but also provide a greater opportunity for sustainable growth and stronger programming. There is a shared commitment between the YMCA and Trinity Presbyterian Church to support the community through high-quality, accessible childcare.”
The new facility in Trinity Presbyterian Church was previously used as a childcare center. This location offers an inspiring environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive, while also supporting a sustainable and forward-thinking program. The partnership between the YMCA of Topeka and Trinity Presbyterian Church allows two organizations deeply committed to youth development-to further the shared mission of empowering the next generation. Together, building a foundation that will positively impact families and strengthen our community.
“Trinity Presbyterian Church is excited about partnering with the YMCA of Topeka. Over the past seven decades, Trinity has prioritized mission and service to our community, and particularly, the children, youth, and families of Topeka. We are delighted to welcome the YCMA Early Learning Center to our facilities as the next era of service to our community,” says Karen Meenan on behalf of The Trinity Presbyterian Session.
The Y of Topeka has communicated the move to all program families and staff and has committed to work to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for everyone involved.
